Yeah, someone's still encoding mpeg2. I'm using avisynth to serve cce sp3. I get excellent speeds with everything except a HD xvid source. I can't use directshowsource (which would utilize ffdshow) for a xvid source with cce sp3, even though the script will load without issue in virtualdub. I can use avisource along with the xvid codec, but it's about half the speed and that's with all post-processing disabled. Has anyone found an alternate way to load a xvid clip into cce sp3 utilizing a faster decoder?

  2. LWLibavVideoSource and ffvideosource might be faster.

About half the speed as compared to what? You said you can't encode using DirectShowSource. Surely you're not comparing the hi-def times with encoding from a standard-def source?

I actually encode a lot of HD video, but it's generally avc video, and coreavc provides excellent speed. I average 75-90fps encoding from a 1080p source with that combo. HD xvid source is noticeably slower at the same resolution. It takes longer to re-encode a xvid 720p than a 1080p avc.

LWLibavVideoSource and ffvideosource might be faster.
Haven't heard of LWLibavVideoSource. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

Let's be honest. While I'm certain that this would never apply to you Genaugmen, the fact is that CCE is out of the price range of most people, so they, uh, find "demo" (wink wink) versions through various means. If a person wasn't married to CCE because he paid a ton for it, perhaps said person would give HCenc (it's free) a try and see if he preferred that and felt that it was better and perhaps faster than CCE. But that advice is for others who read this and not you as I'm sure you are married to CCE because you bought it.

  6. Turn off Xvid's deblockers and deringers.

I'm not so much married to cce, but if I push the right buttons, she treats me right. And I haven't achieved the same quality and speed with anything else. HCenc may be the one encoder I haven't tried, but I do remember looking into it not too long ago. I'm not opposed to having a mistress on the side though.
