  1. I am trying to create my own Rifftrax Fifth Element film.
I have managed to mix the two audio files (The original Fifth Element audio and the Rifftax voice over) so they are in sync.

I have the untouched Fifth Element file on my PC, which contains the video and audio, in mp4 format.
I have the audio file which I have made, in WAV format.

How do I get the Video and Audio together, and in sync?

  2. You can use a player that has the ability to load an external audio file. MPC-BE is one such. Then you can also synch them up using the + and - keys to find out the delay, if there is one. DelayCut can be used to remove the delay.

If your output format is to be another MP4, it doesn't allow WAV audio. A program like Hybrid can load them both, you can set the video as 'pass-through' so it doesn't get reencoded, and have the audio reencoded as AAC before being muxed into an MP4. That's one way, anyway. Or, you can reencode the audio yourself and use YAMB to mux the two.

  3. Yes, sorry I shoulve mentioned that I'm looking to mix them into a video file that i can play at a later date.
I'm not too bothered what the file is output as, mp4, avi, whatever.

  4. Well, TSMuxer with its GUI can load the MP4, remove the existing audio (if that's what you want), add in your WAV file, and mux it into a number of output formats. TS is good. I just tried with an MP4 I had and removed the AAC audio and added in a WAV file and it worked well.

  5. Im using TS. I try to load the WAV i have and its telling me it needs to be a 48000 sample rate.
    How can i acheive this?

  6. Whatever you used to create the WAV file in the first place should be able to do that. Audacity can also.

  7. Great done it! The audio is ever so slightly ahead of the video. Its so close i could live with it....almost.
There is an option in TSMuxer 'Delay (in ms)'. As the audio is ahead of the video, should i make the delay + or - ms?
I presume its just a case of trial and error to find out how many ms its out.

  8. The video was ahead of the audio actually. I set it to -90ms and all seems ok now

Yes, you can set the delay in the program. I prefer to get rid of the delays altogether using DelayCut, as I mentioned earlier. Any WAV editor can do it as well. You can also discover the amount of actual delay (or close to it) by testing in players that change the delay on the fly. I use MPC-BE for that.

Anyway, good going on solving your problem!
