There is a poster from Brazil
Who needs to swallow a pill
Is worried about scratches
Or disks with odd patches
The mere thought makes him feel ill

I was told that CD-R discs are more likely to develop fungus and DVD + R has less or no chance of developing fungi, is this true?

Of course, one of the more sensational fears is that people who use optical disks will eventually confuse them with the petri dish, sitting next to their computer.
In this horrible case, we can see that the disk infection has sealed the center-hole entirely.
Oh wait. That IS a petri dish! Silly me! See how easy it is to make this common mistake?
Fortunately, pulling off the drive-bay covers on most computer cases will reveal a hole where petri dishes can be stored, forever and ever. -
take a look at this site on Geotrichum: http://www.myetymology.com/encyclopedia/Geotrichum.html
in wikipedia also cites this fungus
You said this fungus reproduces only in the tropics and I live in the tropical state Ceará Brazil and now I'm worried if the polycarbonate Geotrichum will eat of my medias and destroy them
please help -
I'm glad you provided that important detail. Brazil, due to its notorious anti-copyright stance, is the only state in the hemisphere which has opted not to sign the International Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Digital Media-Consuming Microorganisms, or NAMBLA for short. With great certainty, I can tell you that your DVD+R media are in grave danger. If you can re-encode them to fit on CD manufactured before 2002, when the R6+L bacteria first began spreading from its original location in Chibougamau, Quebec, you might be able to preserve your data. Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like? Time is of the essence, so I suggest you glove up, sign out of the forum and get to work on the transfers.

Big, it might be doom, indeed. Gosh. How awful.
I see that care must be taken even in the handling process. Here's a poor child that, obviously without proper supervision or SECC Zinc-loaded gloves, may never be the same.
"Don't try to stop me - I must touch the speakers!!"
(Big, thanks for not starting on Newfie jokes, either - hint hint.) -

So what? The answer is obvious: Tierra Del Fuego - Isla Wickham. Guaranteed to be practically fungus free, regardless of SECC or Zinc, speakers,e tc.
But who made you think paint does not stop corrosion? Every navy in the world is jammed with bo'sun's mates who are told exactly the opposite!
I also do not understand why you refuse to believe DigitalFAQ Admin or LordSmurf over there? They have given you all the same answers as you've received in every post on every forum, yet you call all of these people liars? What a terrible thing you do. -

It was put in off topic and your other double post, pointless, useless and locked thread was for a reason!!!
Just reposting the same damn thing won't make any difference.
Get a clue, stop trolling and GO AWAY!!!!!!!! -

What are the names of these problems? -
All of these are probably IN your collection now, as you waste time here, you should be bathing all your disks, computer equipment, clothing, bedding - everything in bleach baths. Steaming hot, too. Boiling. That will save you!
-

Not one, I repeat, not one of those photos have anything to do with FUNGUS!!!!!!!!
And just by the name of the links, if he does not realize they have nothing to do with "fungus"
then he truly has the IQ of my dead cat that has been dead for 25 years!!!!
But now it is painfully obvious he is a troll!!!
And now this ****TARD has started a thread on the "durability" or "longevity" or LCD monitors!!!
Why has this very obvious troll not been banned yet ?!?!?! -
Oooooo.... now there is some kind of auto censorship script going on!!!
LOL!!!
I was saying F, U, C, K, T, A, R, D, but it ended up as ****TARD!!!
Oops, guess it only works when not separated by a ","
LOL!!! -
Gonca, how can you tell if the microwave is fungus free?
"Put it in a bathtub of bleach, too."
Yes, that's what I was thinking of. Then, pull it out and run the disks thru it for those 5 minutes. That should do it.
I wonder how many of Gamey's disks look like those photos by now? "More, every minute."
So true... -
-
What about sandblasting? Has anyone mentioned this? Gonca's supplied photos of a metallic monitor plating in the MONITOR thread, and I was thinking, "Sandblasting! That'd do it!"
