Sterilize your computer and discs in an autoclave after each use. That will kill the fungus.

We really must stop feeding the monkeys. Even endangered species eventually die out.

Just wash your dvd disc in warm soapy water, then, making sure it is still covered in a lot of soapy water, make sure there is a LOT of dish soap still on the disc, insert it in your drive and the force of the disc spinning will spray all the dish soap throughout your drive sterilizing it!!
Antibacterial dish soap is the best to use. -
And do use a soft cloth when washing. Do not want any scratches on the discs.

Just put the DVD drive in the broiler for half an hour. This should kill the fungus. Toss the disc into the microwave for a minute on high and you should be good to go.
Almost at a 100 posts for this thread, kinda sad, isn't it? -

"Any sufficiently advanced stupidness is indistinguishable from malice." <== FACT.
So, if the O.P. isn't a troll, he does indeed behave like one,
and this is all that should matter. -
1 The autoclave which is? I have nothing to sterilize the disk and drive and if I use something liquid will provide further growth of fungus
2 wash the disc is not good because of the problem of moisture on the cover of my album philips says not to wet
3 what is broiler?
4 expose the disc to high temperatures also is harmful so I asked if the heat from the drive just being power will kill the fungus?
5 what it takes to take a disk to generate fungus? the disc by contacting the fungus infects it will have? -

So, when Wifey sees my pile of blow-torch melted DVDs that I'm sandblasting in bleach baths, I can say, "God made me do it! Magically!" Is that my excuse? Does that work?
I hope so... I gotta get that V8 blow-torch going. Tim Allen built it for me, a few years ago. It takes a while to use that pull-chain to crank 'er over, though. -

Baldrick is possibly one of the most tolerant admin/mods that I have come across.
I speak from experience since I moderated a forum for a few years and I certainly did not take prisoners. It is equally clear that other forums that this idiot has 'soiled' have not been half as moderate.
He claims not to be a troll yet is intent on disrupting the daily process. Does not get a reply so simply repeats a previous post. Gets a reply. Pretends not to understand so repeats a previous post.
In fact he is simply encouraging the abuse in an attempt to get good members removed.
There is only one message that this ejit will understand "You are banned" -
Why do not you stop me curl up and help me unravel the fungi to know if I put a disc in a drive fungus infects this drive and any disc I put this drive will be contaminated with fungus

As you seem to be the only person who is losing sleep over this MONUMENTALLY trivial non-issue, why don't you go and do a bit of experimenting yourself and then you'll know! Just think, if you'd done this earlier then you could've been The Go-to guy for disc fungus issues across the internet instead of being just another idiot/troll/loser/saddo. I hope you find a real friend (or two) and a life, and maybe even get jiggy with a real, live, conscious and willing human being. Good Luck!

My apologies NoahTuck. I didn't realize that was your saying. Didn't think of another way to say Holy s**t, does he stop?
This must be contagious. I think I am getting fungus on the brain!Last edited by gonca; 28th Sep 2013 at 11:34.

No post from the OP for almost two days.
Has he got the message ? Or has he wandered off to the Amazon Rain Forest and captured by the Bongo Bongo Tribe who were cannibals. Yet listening to him pleading his case and explaining his vast knowledge on dvd+R scratches and fungus (not neccessarily in the same breath) they have considered becoming vegetarians. Well one last meal........ -
