My sony bdp-s380 doesn't advance chapters properly on mkv videos unless they are on a key frame,if the chapter is off a key frame it will skip back to the nearest keyframe and the only way to advance it is too let it play for a few seconds.

I did a google search for any programs that can do chapter key frames but nothing except the usual ones that just let you set the interval by time.

Is there any program or method that i can use that doesn't require a lot of calculating for key frame intervals?

What about MKV Chapterizer? It just has you set the intervals at which you want a chapter to be created.

Edit: Oops, didn't see that the player apparently wants the chapter to be on a keyframe. Never mind.

  3. I've never seen any hence I do it manually in VideoReDo. TDA can be used as well.

Besides, and in order to ensure zero seeking issues:
the GOP of the chapter keyframe must be closed.
Older or cheaper firmware generally dislikes «chapter_points + open_GOPs».

I meant to use TDA for making chapters then export them to .keyframe, then use ChapterGen to generate OGG chapter file for re-muxing mkv in mmg.

OK, it's time consuming but I didn't find quicker and equally precise way to do it, especially for music/concert videos.
