Topic. My situation is that I have a Popcorn Hour A-300. It can play anything you throw at it, but it has hidden inadequacies. The relevant point is that it slowly loses audio/video sync when playing MKVs, equal to about 80ms per hour (pretty noticeable during a movie of any length). Happens with every type of MKV, and there will clearly never be a fix.

My solution has come in two flavors: Copying over the M2TS files themselves, or converting to MP4 with XMedia Recode. Today I learned that the A-300 doesn't know what to do with DTS audio in an MP4 container. Not very surprising. But the fact of the matter is that I want to preserve a 7.1-channel DTS HD MA audio track in an MKV, but change the video file to something that won't lose sync. This basically means M2TS.

So, long story short, I'm looking for the most convenient method for converting such a MKV to M2TS without downmixing the audio in any way, and of course without introducing any new issues like sync mismatches. (And preferably in a fashion that doesn't outright discard subtitle tracks.) I've looked around, but it seems like most folks are happy with apps that render videos PS3-compatible. That's not what I'm after.

    Thanks in advance!

Tsmuxergui,if you still get out of sync issues then it's a problem with the files.

Thanks. Giving it a shot. I gather I should leave "Add picture timing info" and "Continually insert SPS/PPS" checked since MKV mostly eliminates these, correct?

Has there ever been a good solution to the fact that Tsmuxer discards all subtitle tracks present in MKV files?

Interesting. The MKV I have has three PGS subtitle tracks, according to MediaInfo, but Tsmuxer complains instantly about not recognizing them and fails to list them. I've actually never had Tsmuxer successfully recognize any subtitle track in any MKV.

Tsmuxer doesn't like mkv with pgs already muxed, you can extract the pgs with mkvcleaver and input them in with the mkv.
