I am deaf and I depend on English subtitle or closed captioning to follow the video. Since Bluray doesn't handle closed captioning because component (720 or 1080) and HDMI do not support closed captioning feature like 480i did, BD is limited to subtitle only.

It's been a few years since BD came into my house and one of my favorite movie does not have subtitle. Time Bandit for USA has absolutely nothing. I tried Canadian version, it had only French subtitle which isn't of any help. I did find the Steelbox edition has english subtitle but it is region B.

If it wasn't somewhat convoluted, I would have ripped the BD video and my old Criterion DVD for subtitle and play it on my laptop connected to my 32" 1080i TV. Ripping the Steelbox would have been a bit easier since subtitle is already matched but my BD drive is locked to A.

I'd offer my Criterion DVD of Time Bandits for legal Region A BD with English Subtitle. Or a way to play region B on my laptop.

PS also hex and pox to anyone who releases BD of movies from 80's and newer without English subtitle. Special place in hell if they releases the BD with 50 different languages subtitle but not English subtitle.

    Maybe this might help. http://subscene.com/subtitles/time-bandits

Netflix streaming offers Time Bandits with subtitles and in HD. Not all streaming players will display subtitles but a computer will. They also offer the movie in DVD and BR but no subtitles. Very strange.
