I'm trying to burn Indie Game The Movie to a DVD for a friend with the Japanese subtitles attached.
I don't care if they're selectable or hard-burned since this person won't be watching it without them anyways, but I can't get ffmpegX to recognise the Japanese fonts, so I get a collection of errors like this:
FIXME:Hardenabling SSE and SSE2 without detection
/Users/psd/.spumux/Arial.ttf doesn't look like a font description, ignoring.
Cannot load font: /Users/psd/.spumux/Arial.ttf

Any help would be appreciated.

I cannot help you with ffpmegX. Sorry.
If you don't get the help you need and you have access to Windows, I've successfully used Xvid4PSP to encode to Xvid with hard Chinese subtitles. To get Xvid4PSP to work with your subs the subs need to be saved to a UTF format file.
We have some people here who know how to use ffmpegX under OSX so maybe they will help, but I wanted to provide an alternative just in case.

This part looks like something unrelated to the subtitles, but related to some H.264 characteristics that are not supported by the decoder, thus claiming the unexpected findings as "errors".
If you try the Play button in ffmpegX, does it play the video or will it error as well?
