First of all my apologies if I am posting in the wrong forum as I am new here. I recently purchased Panasonic viera Plasma TV TH-P50X50D and after installation I tried to play some video files from my computer. Most of the high res files played with a jerky picture, Heavy pixelation, ghost images, picture freeze and only the audio playing. Some files failed to play. On contacting the Panasonic service I was informed that this TV will not play HD 1080 video and will only play 1,024X768 pixels or below. But, when I purchased the TV the specifications clearly mentioned that this TV is HD compatible(see attached snap shot). Now I am left with a TV that dose not play high res videos. I am feeling cheated. Kindly help me in knowing that if this is the problem of the TV or the seller has taken me for a ride. Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions/ advice.
Regards,
Javeed.

This is the answer if the specs were posted by the seller, not Panasonic. That's assuming that you are correct that the plasma will not display HD, I didn't take the time to investigate the actual specification from Panasonic. Resolution posted is the native resolution that the unit defaults to, there may be some setting that will enable you to force it to higher res (but I doubt it) and you may get distorted screen images if that is so.the seller has taken me for a ride

Thanks for your response Mr.ranchhand. Its a bit unclear for me to understand that the tech support person says that my TV will not play MP4and Mkv files whose res is other than 1,024 X 768 pixel. As far as my limited knowledge goes, the files should play by adjusting the res to the optimum level rather than not playing. I request your help further to clarify this issue so that I am not misguided by the support or the seller. Thank you once again for your kind help.
 Regards,
 Javeed

You are right - the TV should resize the HD video to it's native 1024*768 resolution. HD Ready means it CAN show HD pictures - otherwise you'd never be able to watch a BluRay.
I think your problem lays more with the fusiness of the video format your TV can handle.
