  1. I have never used it as I always 'source range', i was wonderin if it is pretty much the same thing.

Does it actually cut the Mpeg you have or make a 2 part copy (needing more space on HD). Are there any issues with it as every time i tried in the past cutting my vcd i had synch problems all over the place.

Finally how long should the process take as my TMPGEnc doesn't let you know when it's finished it appears to just carry on when you mux or cut/merge, weird.

    Thanks for any info. 8)

I can answer some of your questions.

First, get TMPGEnc ver2.53. Progress bars have been added to the merge and cut sections so that you can see the amount of time remaining for the job.

Second, when you use the merge function, you give a name to the merge file that is to be created. After creation, you can delete the separate files. I have used this many times and this sub-program works fine every time.

Third, when you use the cut function, you give names to the separate files that are to be created and mark entry and exit points. After completion, you can then delete the single "big" starting file. I have not used this function in ver 2.53, but my experience with it in some older versions was not very good. Most of the time, it would result in audio/video sync problems. The amount of lead or lag was also not predictable, so therefore I had to resync each cut individually with different time parameters.

    Hope this info helps.
