All,
I'm new to video production and this is my first post in here. I'd like to know how to create uniform intros & endings for my videos? My plan is to shoot, produce & upload a lot of videos (to youtube). I've seen other people who have done something similar. And what caught my attention is that they have a cool intro which starts all their videos. It creates a sense of uniformity & makes everything look quite professional. I'd like to do that too.
I have Sony Vegas Studio (11). I'm not sure if what I'm looking to do is to create a "template", or if I need to buy a pre-made intro & customize it with text & music or how all this works.
If anyone can please get me going in the right direction, I would be most appreciative.
Thanks,
Doc

mine are just uncompressed video files that are put on the timeline at the beginning and end. just make yours(you have to create it in vegas) and render them out uncompressed or as lossless avi. that way they are only rendered once during the final output and can be used as much as needed.

probably depends on your skill level and/or how deep your pockets are. if you want to hire an ad agency to create them for you then you don't have to be creative or have any editing skill.

What did you have in mind? I can help you.
You will need some type of branding, in the form of a graphic, that conveys a sense of your subject matter visually. Like if you're a farmer, something to do with farming, like corn, tractor, pitchfork, along those lines.
The best inspiration is from others doing the same, or similar, thing. But direct copying is a no-no, and your branding should be as unique as possible. It must be distinct. And it must be "copyright-able", as a trademark.
When you go on YouTube, you'll be live in front of the world. And it's serious business. YouTube is very strict on commercial accounts. So you need to scout around the web and see what's already out there, and do something different.
Content is King. So the fancier the intro, the more expectations of the viewer. Elegance is simplicity. Less is more. You can always bling it up later.
I've seen too many (most) intros that razzamatazz you and then some guy with a crappy voice comes on and yaps for 10 minutes telling you what you can expect. Don't talk about what you're going to do. Get right into it. Grab their attention with some meat right away, and they'll put up with your vegetables later on.

There are no templates in Vegas. Your template is a saved project file. Stick with Vegas Studio, it's good learning software until you get your wings. Takes about a year to grasp everything.
There are other entry-level editors that do have canned animations that you can personalize, but these are usually perceived as such. Everything in them have been seen too many times for anyone to get excited seeing them. Do the PowerPoint templates look good to you? Hahaha. Everyone knows the drill on that.
The best thing is to craft your own brand.Last edited by budwzr; 22nd Aug 2013 at 15:08.

Based on some of the responses, I think perhaps I may have not articulated myself very well with regard to what I'm after.
I'm specifically looking to have an animated intro. I'm very familiar with uploading videos to YouTube. And I've already generated & uploaded a lot of them. But the production quality is not very great. It doesn't "pop", and I think what I want to snazz things up a bit is some animated intros. I'm guessing a lot of people who have done this were using some kind of Mac program (like iMovie). It doesn't have to be earth shatteringly awesome. Just something to package my videos a bit.
Do you use Sony Vegas Studio to create animated intro's? I'm not worried about branding. I already have a logo and all of that. I just wanted animation to spruce up the intro (rather than just having a static intro). -

I'm looking to accomplish something and I didn't get the information I needed. So I took responsibility for poorly wording my query. I'm not sure how you misinterpreted my post that much. I never said I was a seasoned pro. If I was a seasoned pro, I certainly wouldn't be in here asking newbie questions!
But I agree with the second part of your post. I do hope somebody comes along with the information I need.
Thanks anyway. -
Thanks for the "apology", but I'm busy now with somebody elses logo. And yes, I'm using Sony Vegas.
