I think,therefore i am a hamster.

I will in about a half hour. But, I need to know, what should that spring be attached to?
-
It might be part of the tape guide, just need to see if it came off.

I may just give up on this because it may be too far gone, but if anyone is willing to help please let me know.

I think I found the problem. That spring is supposed to wrap around the gear, but the plastic bit that holds it around the gear fell out. How do I remove the gear?
-
correct. that's a pressed rivet you'll just break it more trying to take i apart. i think i said what to do with that vcr long ago.

Post a pic with the spring and plastic to where it belongs. If its broken then it's not worth repairing.

The plastic piece was from UNDER the gear. And er... the piece just fell onto my carpet. I need to look for it. Even though it may not be worth it, I have 3 VCRs that work fine, so its not the end of the world. I just want to try to fix it for fun.

I found it, it actually never fell off of my table. I am willing to attempt to fix it, its really not a big loss if I break it more.

Would it be possible to take it apart from the top of the vcr? If I take the mech out, could I access the gear then?
