What are the current options for saving video from netflix using a PC or Xbox + DVR? Wasn't there some tools a while back to simply strip the DRM from the video if you had the license to watch it? Only thing I really want is Philly (TV series) because it's never been on DVD and apparently never been "released" online.

We can't help you with your problem. See https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/72386-Forum-rules-Acceptable-Use-Policy-(AUP)?
Do NOT talk about copying rented material
You are not allowed to rip/copy/record rented video. It includes streaming rented video like netflix, itunes, hulu plus, etc.

That's interesting, since this exact discussion took place a few years ago without you bitching. https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/273887-Capturing-Netflix-Instant-Viewing

There are ways to record from that there, like with a good screenrecorder, but you have to usually have to have a new powerful computer for that if you want the best quality. You can also buy an hdmi capture card, to get around hdcp, you can buy a certain avermedia card and use special drivers, or buy a certain hdmi splitter and use with a hdmi capture card and that will work. I'm recording from there on my netgear neotv max, a special hdmi splitter, and a roxio game capture hd pro and it works.

Plenty of discussions that went on here in 2007 are presently against the forum rules. However in 2007 websites weren't as likely to get into trouble over allowing such discussions to take place. You really can't blame baldrick for changing the rules to protect this website.
