  1. I abandoned this format years ago when DVD-Rs became inexpensive.

    Why still use this format when there are other formats around like XVID and DIVX and other MPEG4 formats?

    We get very few posts at all dealing with VCD anymore. SVCD posts are even rarer.

    VCD is still alive in a lot of Asia. You don't have to like it, but that is reality. VCD is still a commercially viable format there.
