    Hello guys!

Which codec is the better? H264 or VP9?

Are there any detailed comparison on the web from 2013?

    Which transcoders support the VP9?

    Thank you for your reply!

According to the own test of Googe:

took me 90minutes to convert a 30 seconds SD video...i'll keep an eye on it but thats it... google is going to fast (vp8 to vp9), i'll keep on using h264 because it free for private and non commercial use.

this whole h264 vs vp8 vs vp9 thing has a lot of factors to it...hardware/software widespread...cost to user/"producer" of the video content...etc....when chip makers started to announce support for vp8 google decided to launch vp9 ?!?! For someone that wants it to be a standart shouldnt they "go slow with it" and wait for it to reach the consumer? Releasing hardware with vp9 support takes time so why rush it?

Some say vp9 is meant for the web but from my point of view in order to be the "ONE" they will need to be the best both on the web and offline.

H264 has been playable on mobile phones, gps, tv's etc for a couple of years now, you can stop your car at a service station swith on your gps/mobilephone and see online videos, etc etc....for vp9 to be sucessfull it will need to do the "same" online and offline, i dont see it happening with such a "fast" non retrocompatible release cycle.
I love it when a plan comes together!
