  1. How do you do this, or can it be done?

  2. Look over this way:

    <<<<<<<<

    How to...convert.
    How to...author.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. Does not say how to go from SVCD to VCD. That is what I am looking for.

    Thanks,

  4. Load SVCD MPEG2 file into your favorite encoder (TMPGenc typical & free). Load the VCD project template (PAL or NTSC, your choice depending on country). Press convert and wait awhile for MPEG2 to MPEG1 conversion.

Use Nero, VCDeasy, TSCV, etc. to author & burn to VCD.

  5. To find the mpeg-2 file:

Copy the files off the SVCD

On the SVCD disc you'll see the following directory structure:

    15.01.2002 11:24 <DIR> EXT
    15.01.2002 11:24 <DIR> MPEG2
    15.01.2002 11:24 <DIR> SEGMENT
    15.01.2002 11:24 <DIR> SVCD

In the MPEG2 directory you'll find a file called called AVSEQ01.MPG. Copy it to your harddisk. Then enter the 2nd disc, and copy the same file but call it AVSEQ02.MPG. Do the same with the 3rd disc (if you have one).

Those files are what you use with TMPGenc and convert to VCD-compliant mpeg-1.

  6. That is what I though, thank you. But when I try that, the quality just goes way way down. Again, thank you for the reply.

  7. Of course the quality goes way down. SVCD has a bitrate of 2048 kbps. VCD is only 1150. That's about 1/2 the quality. The best way to encode VCD is to use the free TmpegEnc, but even with that excellent encoder, the quality will be a little worse than a VHS tape.
