  1. I went to Doom9 on recommendation. I actually signed up months ago and was told to watch out for the elitists there. I couldn't even post for 5 days so I waited like 3 months.

Anyway, some guy gave me a tutorial for LAV Filters, MadVR, and FFDshow which was suppose to make my quality better. All it did was ruin my audio quality and make anything other than .mp4 crash MPC-HC.

So basically I cannot watch 90% of my movie collection now.

I was using MPC-HC 1.6.5 before. I upgraded to the newest one, still 32 bit, installed all this crap and it doesn't work.

Your problem is not very-well defined yet. We don't even know what is the operating system of your machine
    Need more info

But if the "upgrade" didn't work as expected, what about the downgrade?
If nothing very-wrong happened, reverting to the old version of MPC-HC should be sufficient.
Otherwise, a "hard uninstall" (including some Registry cleanup) may be required...

FWIW, I still use a "light" build of MPC-HC (1.6.8.7391), therefore
it has NO "internal filters" to occasionally get in the way
I *don't* use the LAV Filters for everything, but for MP4s and MKVs, LAV Splitter is working as it should

    P.S.: The root-of-all-evil @ Doom9 is a disease called neuron2

I have never used lav filters or lav splitter and i can play 99.5 percent of any videos with mpc-hc,the only things i install is ac3 filter,CoreAVC 3.0.1 Professional Edition,Avisynth_258 and Xvid-1.3.2 for playing and encoding.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  4. Get rid of LAV, ffdshow, and MadVR. Enable MPCHC's internal readers/splitters and codecs. Problem solved.

  5. A guy helped me out and removed the crap. Apparently ffdshow is outdated garbage. Some guy linked me a tutorial and it just broke everything even though I followed the steps to a T. Avisynth was part of the tutorial and it is gone now too.

I go by 'if ain't broke, don't fix it', but who doesn't want better quality?

Anyway, I just have the MadVR and Lav Filters now that this guy set up.

I won't be touching this stuff again because I don't want problems.

I really don't see any quality difference.
