    Go here http://docs.aegisub.org/manual/ASS_Tags and look up Fade, Fade(Complex), animation, etc. This is a complete list of tags for .ASS subtitles
    and covers fade in and fade out that you wanted to know about.

    You can go to my site here http://www.budmansite.com/Subtitle and download the ASS/SSA script document and it shows examples and how to create the subtitle tags. This should get you a good start on what you wish.
