    really doubtful it was a dual top loader. there were lots of top loaders with second panel that opened on top though, to cover some knobs.

    from nyt - long after all vcrs were front loading.
    Finally, after years of legal wrangling, a company called Go Video in Scottsdale, Ariz., has launched the first VCR designed for two cassettes, so copying can be done on a single machine. The Go Video GV-2000, priced at $1,000, is only slightly wider than an ordinary VCR; yet two separate tape-loading slots are fitted side by side into the front panel.
