Panasonic SD90 allows you to set color in an image preferences menu. If you set the value higher, you get very vivid image, if you set it lower, you get a kind of greyish image. My problem with this camcorder is that I don't really find its colors interesting. I cannot have a bad word about it regarding features: the picture is very sharp, no need to set sharpening on TV, the stabilizer is extra strong, lots of manual features. But the colors don't inspire me. My friend is telling me all the time that colors can be modified later, but he uses DSLR, and I know on that you can record in a mode that can accept adding colors later and having a good video in the end this way. Could I get a similar result, in case I set the color setting in the Panasonic SD90 to the minimum? Can the camcorder make a video this way that would be a good source for adding final colors later, or this won't make things easier either? I just don't know what video you need that is optimal for adding colors later.

camcorders are supposed to record the color of the objects as they are, not as you'd like them to be. try setting the camera on full auto and let it get the white balance and other settings correct. also set the cam to record in it's highest setting so you have the best quality possible. which should allow you to change the colors with video editing software later if have something like sony movie studio and then render it out to a new video without too much loss of quality. setting the cam to minimum color will result in washed out video with no hope of fixing it later.
