I did quite a bit of searching and couldn't find any mention of this issue, which is, as the title says, when using Handbrake to burn in the subtitles (the show is in Japanese), in one particular case they stop appearing partway though the video. It worked perfectly fine for two other videos, but with the third the subtitles abruptly stop showing up near the end as if they were turned off, even though they're supposedly hardsubs.
I tried ripping just that section (and a bit around it) and the hardsubbing that to see if it was that particular file that Handbrake didn't like, but it still stopped at the same point. I can watch the DVD as well as the .vob file (same .vob I'm editing in Handbrake), and they both show the same subtitle track for the whole video, no problems there.
Basically, Handbrake has decided I only get subs for most of the video :/
