Whatever a WEG 5050 is, I assume you are attempting to dub from a copy protected dvd to the hdd of the recorder.

Forget it. The disk may not even be macrovision protected. Use standard PC based ripping methods.

It sounds like a "Do not copy" flag and not Macrovision, but analog TV is not supposed to have this.

Back in the days when your satellite tv (Sky) was analog, they had premium services - Sky Box Office Movies - and they did broadcast some sort of signal to prevent recording. They are now digital and still have the same premium services but I have no idea whether recording is prevented but I would expect it is.

I don't think anything that comes over the O.P.'s provider is analog. Most cable companies have switched to digital, and even my old digital SD box has copy-once imbedded on many channels (TBS, History, USA, Science, NatGeo, TNT, Disney, etc.) -- I'm using analog s-video out on that box.

on this weg5050 protect is some world tv stations: eurosport 2,
history,Natgeo Wild (I understand that), some national, even 3 local channels from my city,
total 20-21 from all 60 channels on my cable TV.
Connectors only scart and composite av (no s-video).
On my old (now broken), LG dvd recorder everything was fine, (at least on crt tv),
all channels were available for recording.

    This is Weg5050:

Older DVDR's might have worked in the past, but copy-once is constantly being added to more channels since that time. A little over 2 years ago I used an expensive HD tuner that picked up channels directly off the cable line and could record 4:3 SD with a 16:9 display aspect ratio on HD broadcasts. Those days are in the past. Today that tuner is useless for cable pickup. There are PVR's available today that can record HD and SD out of the cable box and most of them ignore copy protection (Macrovision, I believe, is no longer used. Newer methods have been developed to control what you do). But the new PVR's work with computers, not with DVD recorders.

Newer recorders will have protection enabled for many premium and other channels. A Grex might be able to remove the protection but it's an extra piece of equipment you would have to purchase. Your best bet is to see if you can find the same model as you had before or ask in a forum inside your country if anyone else had this problem and how to solve it. Many of us have had to move along to other means like using computers and specialized recording equipment in order to do what you are requesting. It's not as simple as it was years ago.

    Good luck...
