Ok silly question - would it be safe to leave a sticker on the outside of a powered usb hdd?

I just bought a second seagate 2tb usb harddrive so now I'll have two identical drives. I'll be using one for movies and one for game related files.

Obviously when I plug it in I'll know which is which but I'd like to know just by looking at it.

I have a third 2tb but its a western digital so I know whats on that drive because its a different brand.

Would there be any harm putting a sticker on a usb harddrive?

I'd obviously avoid anything that looked like an air vent. Also it doesn't need to be big, something large enough to right at least a letter on it like m for movies and g for games maybe.

    Thanks.

  2. Shouldn't be a problem. I use address labels for that.

    Not a bad idea.

They don't look like they have melted on after a long period of being turned on do they? I mean I guess as long as you aren't near a vent or the power cord it shouldn't be a problem.

At least I have one vote it is ok.

    Anyone else?

    Thanks treetops.
