Hi guys!
I am new with a Canon Vixia R300 camcorder, but not new with the video conversion stuff...
but new in converting (and editing) videos from my own camcorder....
I use the AVCHD format, even when my camcorder gives the option of using mp4 format... many (including the camcorder manufacturers) says that it is best for video editing... I don't know why but I haven't have any problem manipulating AVCHD (MTS files) in my computer...
wel... the problem I am experiencing, is not even with a file that comes exclusively from my camcorder, it happens me with some video files...
in this case, a video I recorded with a digital camera, when I try to convert it with xilisoft video converter, it fails to match the estimated output filse size...
in plain words, the original mp4 video is 73mb (1m23secs) video file; 1280x720, its bitrate is about 7000kbps I wanted to convert it to 1000kbps, when I enter the bitrate I want in xilisoft it shows me that the converted file would be about 11mb file, but when it finish the new converted file is 47mb and 4500kbps!
why xilisoft converted/encoded the video to 4500kbps?
someone already told me it is because the video have too much movement... yeah right but why it does the same when when I choose CBR?
and I don't care it has too much movement I want it 1000kbps even if the quality turns terrible but keep it in the bitrate I choose, why xilisoft does that?

Xillsoft is not a very good quality conversion tool (and it is over priced for something of poor quality), although it can convert to and from many formats. There are many free conversions tools that are much better. I would suggest Xvid4psp, Handbrake is not bad either, but not as many options as Xvid4psp.

Hi deadmeow!
yeah, xilisoft is becoming not so good. I purchased xilisoft some years ago and I was thinking in getting the new 7 version, I love the user interface it is intuitive! BUT you are right, is not very good converting videos, in my case it is doing whatever he wants!
Handbrake is FANTASTIC! and I like the fact that it is natively 64bits (conversion times were 20-45% faster), BUT its interface is AWFULL, no intuitive, not logical and more oriented to dvd rip and that stuff (for me was very complicated and confusing to use.
currently I am also tryin the demo version of the AVS video converter, it works fine, but its interface is not so intuitive, I will follow your recommendation and I will trry the xvid4psp -
ok, another weird software very uncommon installation, and I trow me an error hen trying to add a MOV file to convert, after I was able to "add" another format, then it shows a big preview of the file, but WHERE is the file/task itself, it only shows me the preview..
xvid4psp is not working.
its very simply, I have added a file and I want to remove it, HOW!?
K anyone knows a software like xilisoft (in terms of logical intuitive layout, no weird unhuman options, like an front interface without a list of the task pending to do or that I have to go to up to 4 steps to delete a added task.... ) it doesnt matter is is paid or not, just a well done converter, what do you recommend?
