I no longer have a stand alone DVD recorder. How can I reformat a DVD-RW disc so I can record something else on it again and have it play on a regular set top DVD player. Is there an easy utility that will do this for me? I presently have ImgBurn, and the AVS4YOU video suite of software.

  2. Imgburn has an erase disc feature. Doesn't it work for you? Tools -> Drive -> Erase Disc.

Thanks! I'll give that a try. I didn't know "Erase Disc" was the same as "Reformat".

It's not really the same thing. But the result will be a disc that any DVD writing software or hardware sees as blank.

OK, good. My problem has always been getting set top DVD players to recognize reformatted/reburned DVD-RWs. My computer drive recognizes (and plays) just about anything. The set top players tend to be more picky for some reason. Thanks again.

  6. If that doesn't work you could always try a microwave. That has worked for me in the past.
