I would like to be able to convert these recordings to mp3 to allow for portability. Anybody got an idea?

Also, I do have DISHANYWHERE and can easily play the recordings on my computer. Is there a program that can RECORD while I play the music, then allow me to convert to mp3?

I have never tried it, but looking at the VideoHelp tools section maybe Total Recorder would work for capturing audio played on your computer. It is not free, but it is not expensive either, and you can try before buying.

  5. Run RCA audio cables from the DVR to the computer's audio inputs. Play the video on the DVR, record on the computer using whatever audio recording software you want (Audacity, Windows Sound Recorder, etc.).
