    Hello

I have some MP4 files that I have downloaded and have renamed to suit my purposes. When I play the files through VLC media player the title displayed is completely different to the file name. I have no idea why this is happening. Can some please assist in helping me to get what displays in VLC to read the same as what the file title is?

    Thank you.

    Hi
Look at the mp4 file with MediaInfo program, see if it shows the original (unwanted) title as part of the metadata.

you could try right clicking on the video file/properties/details and use the remove personal info button or if you can get to the name in properties click delete.

Hi all thanks for your replies. I went to MediaInfo program, opened the file in that program and found a heading titled "Movie Name:" and populated there was the unwanted title name. However as much as i can view that I cant find a way to remove that title and populate it with the same information as the file title.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    its in the file header
you can try a 'hex editor' program, but they are a bit tricky youwill have blank the characters or replace with exactly the same number of charcters ( over write them )

avidemux might be the best way
just use copy video & copy audio and remux/save as new file with a new name
the new file should have 'your' new name in the header data
