Have just purchased this home cinema item in Scotland. 1st one had a scratch on the facia, the 2nd had a poor perspex display - so be warned and try and check before taking home. I went for this unit as had been after an all in one system - this offers tuner (am/fm) amplifer, spkrs, as well as dvd/cd/mp3/vcd capabilities. Started off with a Sanyo AVD-8501 but the novelty light at the volume control was too bright for me (also no hack) - then moved onto LG DA-3520 (has a hack) but as previous postings had mentioned it is hissy thru the spkrs, noticable when you turn the volume control from Min to 1. LG seem to have admitted this is a design fault since they've sent me 2 replacements by courier - each had the same problem. I saw the Aiwa HT-DV90 and it looked in appearance very similar to the LG but reading the reviews in magazines said it was sonically very good so I got it and they were right. Comes set for region 1, hack is available for multi region. Handles vcd and mp3 ok. MP3 is my requirement and this has a menu system that allows you to prgram selections from subdirectories - haven't explored this fully yet.
Potential problem - I've noticed when playing a music cd - there is the occasional loss of sound for a second and never at the same place.....is anyone else noticing this ??? any ideas ???
I think for the price this unit is the best of the bunch with the features offered - pity about lack of svcd and scart.
