  1. Hello VideoHelp forums,

I was hoping to find a way that I can use my TV as a second monitor for my laptop. Just for watching movies, youtube, etc.
Getting the audio to the TV is not necessary as I would use a seperate sound system which is already up and running but would be nice to use the TV speakers aswell if possible. The current speakers I use are connected through an amp and then into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the laptop.

I have an Acoustic Solutions LCDW22HD TV with the following connections:

4 x RCA Phono Red White Yellow Black
    Full size HDMI
    20 pin SCART

And a COMPAQ Presario CQ57 Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium with an AMD E-450 Radeon HD 6320 Graphics card. The laptop only has these connections:

    15 pin VGA
    Standard USB

Any suggestions and help will be appreciated and if any more information is required I will do my best to provide.
    Thanks

There are adapters that convert d-sub VGA to composite but the graphics card must support tv out. Check your system first.

  3. You need something like this:

    http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Resolution-Composite-S-Video-Converter/dp/B001NXDQEK

AMD Catalyst Control Center can do clone mode(what's on your desktop) or extended desktop, you can find the settings if you right-click on your desktop.

Yeah, that. Make sure it's an actual converter and not just a cable though.

  6. Thanks for the responses guys.
    I'll probably get this one:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-1080P-Audio-VGA-to-HDMI-HD-HDTV-Video-Converter-Box-Adap...-/360661984274
but first I need to find out if my graphics card supports TV out. Any advice? Google doesn't seem to be yielding much luck

  7. It will work. After you hook up the adapter go to AMD Control Center(as I mentioned above) then go to Displays and you will see it as #2, if not select Detect Displays(you might have to force TV detection). Make sure you have the latest drivers and control center:
