  1. Hey guys, just wondering what the best card is to capture from an HDTV Satelite receiver (Bel Express Vu in Canada). Just got it and I wanna make caps of my fav shows and burn em onto DVD . Any suggestions as to which card (under $350 USD preferable) I should get for capping. The receiver has: an S-Video Output Jack, RCA-Type A/V and Output Jacks, and a 2400 Baud Internal Jack. Thx for any replies in advance!

I think you'd het the best quality with a IEEE 1394 (firewire) card ($50) and the Dazzle DV-Bridge ($230).

You'd have to trans-code to MPEG2 but the quality is the best around.

  5. Along the same lines, what is recommended to make a poor man TiVo.
Something that will record HDTV for time shifting and maintain the HD quility. Has anyone done this? HDTV is great but I hate to tied to the TV by the clock.
