  1. I know I can use mplayer so play a Blu-ray from hdd using:
    Code:
    mplayer br://TITLENUMBER -bluray-device "PATH TO BLU-RAY ROOT"
problem is I don't know the title number but I know the mpls which I want to playback.
-> Is there a way to call a specific mpls file instead of trying to figure out which mpls is mapping to which title number?

  2. you can write a small script to identify longest title before calling any player say mplayer.

  3. Problem is I don't always want the longest title or the shortest, I want a title belonging to a specific .mpls file.
An additionally problem is that sometimes multiple titles have the same length so trying to map mpls to title by length can fail (same goes for checking for looking for the longest title ).

  4. Have you tried look into BDInfo source code, yet?
Normally mpls contains details about time_in, time_out, total duration and chapters info. 5 digit number should correspond to specific title. personally i never had a chance or wish for getting root level details of BDauthoring. Nor I barely know anything about mplayer's inside details.

  5. Nope, I haven't looked at the BDInfo source code since I did not plan to rewrite MPlayer or write a larger scanning tool just to get a mpls <> mplayer title matching.

I just wanted to know if someone knows a way to call the mpls through mplayer, so I would not have to create such a mapping.
Doesn't look like there's an option for this.

  6. once you have specific title's duration and chapters in and out details, i guess you can skip encoder or player to that particular point.

... and this is related to my question regarding if I can tell mplayer to play a specific mpls how?

Since ffmpeg allows to use a specific mpls using libbluray I was hoping for mplayer to be able to do that too, sadly that does not seem to be the case.

  8. Since nobody seems to know if/how one can tell mplayer to play a specific mpls file.
Does anyone know how to figure out which mpls belongs to which of mplayers bluray titles?
(tried to match it using length, chapter-, audio-, subtitle count, but still can't get a distinct mapping between mpls and mplayer blu-ray title)
