  1. I'm looking to move away from a newtek tricaster for recording video podcasts to capturing directly into my PC that runs premiere pro.

I quickly found out that I can't capture audio from an XLR mic plugged in via a usb box if i am using the adobe premiere capture video process, since it can only capture video and audio from the same firewire device (the camera).

is there some kind of all in one box that would allow me to capture video through a firewire connection and audio through an XLR input, that maybe comes with its own software, and that would also create a file that premiere can import and interpret properly in HD? or, what other solutions exist that would work for what I'm trying to do?

  2. Are you capturing live? Why not plug your mic into the camera with something like a beachtek box?

What kind of video are you capturing, HDV?

Yep, capturing live. If I use a beachtek XLR adapter, will those work if I am running my XLR mic through a DBX voice processor? In other words, do those types of adapters work with audio running through a preamp processor?

  4. Yes, the Beachtek adapters allow you to switch between MIC and LINE level signals. I have used mine with my Behringer mixer without problems.
