I'm not sure what that functionality is called but I have a button on my remote when using the dvd player (tv) that makes the dvd jump back ~10s and continue playing. what I'd like to do is fix or add that capability to a couple dvds I have - what happens to those is the dvd goes back to the very beginning or doesn't do anything at all. is this something I can do editing the ifo or something like that? I figure since this only happens to just a couple there must be something in their dvd files I can change to correct that?

Welcome itsmethatyou
This is generally a feature of the dvd player, not all players are the same.
You would need to compare dvd layout and navigation commands to determine what you need to do in order to get those other dvds to work in the same manner ... this could also include the need to reauthor the effected titles.
Quickest method would be: After ripping title to hd
1: Check title that functions, number of chapters, audio and subtitle streams
2: Demux affected title into separate streams to a new folder A
3: Remux affected title to match, chapters, null audio, null subtitle added if required, to a new folder B
4: Use Vobblanker to replace affected title with newly authored title from folder B
5: Playback on pc to check funtionality is fine before committing to blank media
If problem at 5 use pgcedit in trace mode to find issue ... come back for help using it if needed..
Generally if all is done well, 5 should produce necessary outcome. -
I suggest to try to rebuild the Time map of the movie first. There can be other reasons, like Prohibited User Operations or non-sequential title, but the missing time map is the first thing to verify, as it is really easy to fix the problem. (In PgcEdit, use "Title -> Rebuild All Time Maps of DVD" and save the DVD. Burn a RW to test.)

that did it, easy peasy! I've used ifo/vobedit in the past with tutorials here meaning I have little independent understanding but can fumble around with it somewhat - when I would load the dvd in ifoedit initially I'd get err/warning msgs I didn't understand so was researching those, came across a PUO topic which I wondered if might be involved, etc. then I saw your post and in a couple minutes all was fixed. so thanks both for the tips, it's great to finally know how this annoyance can be resolved.
edit: meant to say when I load the dvd with "pgcedit", not ifoeditLast edited by itsmethatyou; 2nd Jul 2013 at 13:38.
