ok im new at bluray, i will buy this week the dvd burner since i need to backup some of my movies. My friend has a large backup collection, he is putting some movies for me in a 250GB hard drive, i like one to one copy, once he lends me these movies to watch, how can i tell if they are a one to one copy or a bluray rip like one i saw in his hard drive Wreck-It Ralph 3D 2012 MULTi COMPLETE BLURAY-NoSence, that looks like a bootleg, so is there a way i can tell, i want to make my collection one to one copy with menus. Thanks all

  2. If it's your friend's collection and you are making a copy for yourself. It's a bootleg.

You can't tell for sure, but low size might be one possible indicator. A 3D version of Wreck It Ralph should be fairly close to 50 GB as Disney does not put 2D versions of films on their 3D BD discs so you should see almost the entire disc used for just the 3D film. Disney is also known to give strange labels to their movies sometimes so I suppose something like you see could be possible. Disney 3D BD discs have not been reported to be successfully ripped, so don't be surprised if this rip, bootleg or not, gives you a lot of problems.

DVD movies should be roughly between 4 GB and 8 GB in size so if you have a DVD rip that is only 1 GB, that's a good indication that it's not the original (unless the originally is very short).

If you are "making your own backup copies" of his movies, that's still WAREZ! If you're only view his movies to decide which of YOUR movies to back up, why are you even watching HIS movies at all, and not your own?

That WreckItRalph sounds like a backup. Don't know if it is a 1:1 or movie-only, etc.

Jman98 is actually not correct on the 3DBD filesize. If you have an ISO backup, it should be exactly the same size as the BD it came from. But if you have files in folders (\BDMV\...), your 50GB 3DBD disc should (appropriately) be ballooning to 75GB. That's the way 3D maintains backward-compatibility on-disc, by duplicating pointers to the same media. Ripping the media to HDD duplicates the media, hence the growth in size.

  6. What does his collection have to do with anything if you're backing up your own legit copies?

Then a DVD burner will do you no good at all, if it's Blu-Rays you want to burn to disc.
