    thanks to all

  2. They're nearly the same. Of course, what settings you use makes the difference.

  7. what do you need it for ?

x264 CFR 0 is lossless (no quality loss), but not compatible with many editors, poor editing performance (timeline scrubbing slow)

  8. mmm in virtualdub I get error, please can you download the c0020.mxf file in my dropbox and try to encode in virtualdub?

  9. Again, what do you need it for ?

There are tradeoffs in terms of compatibility, compression(filesize), quality, editing performance (decoding speed), encoding speed

Best quality is lossless codecs (e.g. ut video codec, lagarith, huffyuv) , but filesize is large, editing performance is usually slow . UT is probably the best overall, because it's lossless, yet still offers fairly good editing performance

Commonly used editing intemediates are better in editing performance , minimal quality loss e.g. cineform, prores (mac), matrox MPEG I frame , etc....

  10. the h.264/mp4 output is only for the web.

But at now I'm not able to find a codec for the blade 2.2 nle editor

I have try the matrox mpeg 2 I frame HD codec but the 1.0.0.28 build block blade.exe

the 1.0.0.33 build seems work but when import the trascoded file the image was reversed

Seem work the morgan MJPEG codec

while for encoding in H.264 I get many error and I don't able to transcode :=(

  11. you probably need to deinterlace , convert it to 4:2:0 for web

(4:2:2 is supported in some versions of flash, but it's probably better idea to convert to 4:2:0 for compatibility)

A very good intermediate on windows is cineform, there is a free version available "go pro cineform studio"

poisondeathray I would like have a question:

in Virtualdub is possibile to apply a conversion of level from standard to expanded and chroma filering/interpolation

as the Matrox plugin in attachement?

  14. this is the attachement

  15. Not sure, try it out

Personally, I dislike matrox codecs because they are treated as RGB in programs (clipping in a YUV source, unless you correct for it beforehand, or use full or expanded range - but then there is a contrast change) . Other codecs like cineform are treated as YUV, and are better suited for YUV sources

And if you wanted conversion you can have better control over conversions in avisynth

EDIT: I see, you're asking if there is a native vdub filter that has those options such as matrox configuration - the answer is no. With the exception of a few, most filters in vdub work in RGB (you already incur a standard range Rec 601 conversion to RGB before the filter) . To do this in vdub, you would need avisynth beforehand

MJPEG is not a standard - MPEG-2 is a standard - huge difference - also MPEG-2 can have custom (flat) quantization matrices and can be 10 bit for DCT, also it can have own metadata and fully support interlace (as MJPEG is progressive).
So for quality (and compatibility) MPEG-2 seem to be much better choice than MJPEG.

    Code:
    Matrox DVCPRO
    Matrox DVCPRO HD
    Matrox DVCPRO50
    Matrox EZ-MXF AVI (playback only)
    Matrox HDV (playback only)
    Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame
    Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame + Alpha
    Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame HD
    Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame HD + Alpha
    Matrox Offline HD
    Matrox Uncompressed HD
    Matrox Uncompressed HD + Alpha
