  1. I've had a go at using Handbrake on a video from a DVD. The original is just over 600 mb, with the conversion being just over 100. I used the High Profile setting & made no other changes.

    The original is 720x576, whereas the copy is 704x576. Is this normal? Should this have changed, & if not, what do I do to keep it with the original resolution?

    Does this change affect the quality, as I want to keep my videos as close as possible to the originals?

    It sounds like HandBrake has (automatically) cropped away some black borders/edges from the video.
    Probably nothing to worry about.



    If you don't want cropping, select Custom and make sure all values are set to 0.

    A sample of original video (or screenshot) might help with troubleshooting if that is not the case.

  3. I was thinking that may be the case, from reading other articles on this wonderful site, about Handbrake. Just thought I'd better ask to be sure.
    I'll do one or two more conversions & see what the results are.
