  1. I wanted to play .ifo .vob .bup files in windows media player (windows 8 64bit latest wmp) I have FFA decoders installed that came with avstodvd and I have the LAV config installed from installing videotovideo. I wondered how to configure either to make windows media player play these file types, I want to test my dvd's after creating before they get burned.

  3. I don't use WMP but you may need to open the folder containing the files and play them as a whole DVD rather open the files individually.

Until someone comes along who uses WMP, you could try MPC-HC. You can open the DVD as a whole using "File/Open DVD/BD" menu and selecting the folder containing the DVD files. That'll let you test/navigate through any DVD menus using the mouse. If you want to open the files individually by clicking on them you can go into MPC-HC's options and under Format, associate DVD files with MPC-HC. Or use the "File/Quick Open File' menu. You won't need to install any additional codecs for MPC-HC to play DVDs.

I'm pretty sure BUP files are backup IFO files so you probably can't play them, although I'm not sure I've ever tried to myself.

And to get WMP to play dvds you will require a mpeg2 codec
