  1. Hi everyone,
I have find the way to directly import my .mxf file from a Sony pdw-f800 camera into the timeline of In Sync Blade 2.2, with the intermediation of the mainconcept .mxf reader. But I don't know what is the codec for the export settings.

I need to install in the system (windows xp) a codec possibly similar to the codec of the original video file.

    For example of this mxf

  2. MXF - Material Exchange format can contain MPEG-2 and AVC video streams. But from SONY XDCAM it is always MPEG-2 and pcm (raw) audio. Any video editor which can handle MPEG-2 4:2:2@HL and pcm audio should able to import video from XDCAM HD422.
Most of time pcm (raw) is handled as a wav which may cause a problem here.

SOME GOOD MFX samples can be downloaded from HERE for testing.

Check out ffdshow for mpeg2 codecs. (note this might just be for playback only, not sure if its an encoder however) For that check out quenc or hcenc.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  4. ffdshow removed MPEG 2 (and all the other high compression codecs) a while back. You'll need an old version if you want to use it to encode as MPEG 2. Even then, I don't now if it accepted YUV 4:2:2 as input, and if it encoded that way. It might require 4:2:0.

  5. i am totally drown in beer drum, in beer pub now, and looking for a bottle of mineral water at the bottom.
isn't it funny that guy having a broadcast industry standard camcorder worth $ 25,000+ which ships with XDCAM Software CD is looking for freeware that can give industry standard broad cast qualities. He must having at-least $5000+ pro editor as well.

    Gimme One more please!

my big problem is I don't wont learn another NLE such Avid or Edius... I have always been accustomed to edit in SD with the great (and unknow by all!) In Sync Speed Razor 5.51

The In Sync, years ago, have closed but left outstanding products such as Blade 2.2 that can manage HD file.

Now I can easly edit with Blade, but this product is very old (... 2003) but it can import and play directly the mxf file (only the video part, the audio part at the moment I have to extract in .wav pcm 48KHz previously) with the intermediation of a system-codec such as the complex Mainconcept/Opencube/Sony Xdcam .MXF reader installed.

My problem, at the moment, is I can not export properly and I can not export in .mxf

  7. On my dropbox (www.dropbox.com logon into it with this credential: user: mrocchini@email.it password: centrale forlder: "public") I have put a file directly extract from the camera

    C0020.MXF

I would like transcode it in mp4, e.g. for load into youtube

where I can fin the best transcoder for the mp4 encoding?

I have used TMPGENC and I have achieve the file C0020.MP4 (I have put it on the same folder)

but I don't know if it is correct.

Can I find a h264 codec for encoding directly from the timeline of Blade? I need of a codec h264 for windows

Time to grow up. Your beloved software is obsolete and cannot handle modern formats. Check out Vegas and Premiere as well.

  11. One question:

now I use VLC to play the single .mxf files

for example using the C0020.MXF file I have on the dropbox I have to set VLC to deinterlace (yadif method)

but why I don't hear audio?

normally I can play files PCM 48KHz .wav

(maybe audio on .mxf in raw?)

so is there a way to playback audio in .mxf in realtime in VLC?

    thanks

  12. VLC defaults to playing Audio channel 1 which in your case is blank. Try the others under "audio." Your clip plays without incident in up to date NLEs, Avid and Premiere.

In future, please include the audio data in your mediainfo reports.

Just select a different audio track: Audio -> Audio Track -> Track 1, Track 2, Track3... But it will only play one track at a time. So if you have a stereo pair you won't be able to hear both tracks at once.

  15. jagabo sorry I have some question:

considering the C0020.MXF type of video: now in the "project settings" of my timeline I have many options and codecs but I would like consider I set as "uncompressed video", and only when I have to export I set a specific codec

So considering the information about C0020.MXF of the mediainfo what of this codec is suitable to working?

    I have this option:

    Uncompressed UYVY
    Uncompressed YUY2
    Uncompressed BGR24
    Uncompressed BGR32

    fot the best quality results?

    thank u

Use UYVY or YUY2 (they're the same YUV 4:2:2 except for the order of the components). But saving uncompressed is insane. Do you realize your files will be 6 GB per minute of video?

setting uncompressed Blade 2.2 use the uncompressed only to generate the video part of the timeline to be rendered or with effects.

When I export I set Blade with a specific codec, maybe an MJPEG or MPEG2

Is better, for the maximum quality

    MJPEG
    or
    MJPEG 2000
    or
    MPEG2 I frame ?

ps. I set VLC for hearing the track2 but it play audio jerky

    Try Matrox VFW Software

Its have codec compatible with your demand. freeware.

The Matrox Video for Windows (VFW) software codecs let you render and play back Matrox .avi files in your VFW programs without having Matrox video hardware installed. This version provides codecs that were previously available only on systems that have particular Matrox video hardware, such as Matrox Axio. This includes the Matrox DVCPRO HD codec, and "+ Alpha" versions of the Matrox uncompressed and MPEG-2 I-frame codecs. As well, the Matrox VFW MPEG-2 I-frame HD codec now lets you render and play back Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame .avi files in all HD formats (720p, 1440x1080i/p, and full-size 1080i/p).
The following VFW software codecs are provided for use on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows operating systems:
    • Matrox DV/DVCAM
    • Matrox DVCPRO
    • Matrox DVCPRO50
    • Matrox DVCPRO HD
    • Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame in SD and HD resolutions, with or without alpha
