    Just got this. Couple questions.

    1) I have my PC HDMI into my TV. In order to not run another HDMI cable, I ran the PC one into the receiver. Now the TV has a messed up resolution. The PC is set to clone my main monitor, and the TV and monitor are the same default res, 1920.. It worked perfectly until the receiver is in the picture. I am wonder if it is trying to convert the signal and not doing a true hdmi-passthrough? Do I have to enable hdmi-passthrough for certain HDMI inputs?

    2) One of the main reasons I got this was the CEC capability. Using LG's SimpLINK this should work. But the LG's simplink screen shows no devices are either connected or capable? Not sure how to fix this.

I googled and google, and even searched their manual and can't find anything about cec or passthrough in there. Any help?

does the 367 even do video conversion? i haven't had any problem with my yamaha 667, and run everything through it with one hdmi cable out to the tv. blu-ray, cable, xbox360, wii, n64, etc. but, i don't connect any pc's so i can't help there.

simplink only works for devices connected directly to the back of the tv. it can't detect things connected to a receiver, but if the 367 is like my 667 it will switch inputs when a new one is turned on if it's connected by hdmi.

Receiver is connected directly to TV. PC and DTV are correct HDMI input to receiver.

But I did just find out in this package I was supposed to receive an RX-373, not 367. Stupid amazon. So they are resending that by tuesday now. So I will find out if new receiver helps w/these issues.

Got the new receiver. HDMI CEC/SimpLINK now works.

Still issues with the resolution. Screen size just looks smaller on the TV now. Can't see all my desktop space. =/

Tv may not be displaying one to one. Some delete the overscan area. Check the tv for the proper setup.

Check for 'Just Scan', '1 to 1 pixel', Native. Anything that disables over/underscan. May be part of the zoom function.
    Have a good one,

Yes, that worked. Thank you. Somehow that got reset, because it was set to 16:9, which should NOT be.

Anyways I got all new problems...sigh.

    1) SimpLINK on my LG tv turns off when the TV turns off and it has to reinitialize that connection. Well it takes forever and some tinkering to get it to see my receiver. So, when i turn everything on. I have to control the volume with the receiver remote until I can get that working. I don't want to have to set that every single time I turn on the TV. Suggestions?

    2) Hard to explain, but my browser window turns all black. Just the website that I am viewing. And only some of my tabs turn black, others are fine. The whole browser screen from address bar to task bar is black on certain tabs, no way to get it back that I've found except closing and reopening. Never had this issue before when my PC went straight to TV. Anyone seen this before?

    3) I can't get it to do it anymore. But when I first opened a video from my PC. Soon as I turned the volume up the receiver SHUT OFF. My thoughts were either a) problem with receiver b) problem with HDMI cable c) problem with that video I used. I did a lot of random things, nothing specific and I can't reproduce it. Just thought it odd and dunno if anyone has seen this before too?

    4) Another thing similar. Once I turn the TV off. My PC now sees the receiver as the other device, not the TV. So it resets my settings.

Let me also add that the remote thing wouldn't be such a big deal, except that the person who wired my whole basement with surround sound, had their Entertainment Center on the opposite wall. So the receiver is more or less behind me.

Hi, I know this thread hasn't been active for a few months now but I just bought the YAMAHA RX-V373 in a bundle at Best Buy and recently have been trying to learn a little about CEC. I also have a Samsung 51" Plasma model PN51E530 that I bought back in mid 2012. It was top of the line then but unfortunately doesn't have CEC integrated in it. I'm not really worried about the TV supporting CEC because I usually have it running 24/7 with background music. One question that I have though is: did you ever get CEC running properly on your setup. Also, you mentioned that you were running your PC to your TV through your AMP. I have a Sony VAIO Model VPCEF47FX and I have had no problems running the HDMI through my AMP to my TV. One thing that I have been trying to figure out though is how to get the CEC on my AMP to recognise XBMC, which I am running on my laptop. I was wondering if you or anyone else knows anything about this? I thought I read somewhere that the new HDMI cables have an extra pin in them that is dedicated to CEC (I think either the 13th or 19th pin, can't remember). I bought a new rocketfish HDMI cable when I got my AMP and also tried to get it to work on an older Sony brand HDMI but to no avail. I bought my laptop back in mid to late 2011, so I don't know if the HDMI ports in my laptop would be culpable to the problem? I have read a little on the Raspberry Pi, however I'm not really in the market for switching over to a new media playing devise just for the sake of being able to use CEC.

Any thoughts? Any info is much appreciated.

Well I forgot to post any resolutions after this, but I have them. Unfortunately it doesn't help your XBMC issues, which I don't use and am not sure why it wouldn't work.

This is known. I actually talked to Yamaha support, and there is no way around it. I am using a Universal Remote that can learn buttons to get around it. It's working out fine. So I don't uses CEC anymore.

Haven't had this since. I believe updating vid drivers fixed this.

This I found out was Speaker Wired incorrectly. When you first turn the receiver back on after this happens, you get a "Check SP/Wire" error. So it's best to just redo every speaker and make sure there are no wires that are loose.

    4) Another thing similar. Once I turn the TV off. My PC now sees the receiver as the other device, not the TV. So it resets my settings.
This is also still a problem, but not major. When you turn the TV or Receiver off my PC monitor will flash because it no longer sees the receiver, and my TV is no longer a clone of my monitor. But since the settings are saved for both ways, all it does is flash now, doesn't hurt me. It is a bit annoying if I'm playing a video game and my wife turns the TV off, it can turn my monitor off at a very crucial moment. =)

Thanks for the update, at least you were able to find a way around it. I think I will stick with using one of the XBMC remote apps for the Android for now then (yatse, or XBMC Remote). It seems like this new CEC feature still has a few kinks that need to be worked out. It will be great when more reliable versions of CEC are incorperated in newer model TVs and devices in the future. So fare I havent heard of anyone having a lot of success with bigger, more complicated setups with AMPs and other devices, not without using Raspberry Pi or an adaptor (think it was called CEC Adaptor or something along the lines).

I would be curiouse to see if it does well with a Bluray player that supports CEC or not. It will be intoresting also to see what features the PS4 will have with respect to CEC as well. If they release a PS4 remote hopefully they will extend the list of supported AMPs beyond Sony brands. If so then that might also be an alternative to CEC for the time being. (Note: if only I had noticed that only Sony brand AMPs were supported by the PS3 remote...)
