This looks like a great bit of software, but one problem: it doesn't matter what I play (disc or file) - all of the main aspect ratios are greyed out and 'Default' is checked (and that's greyed out too!). Have tried changing all kinds of Aspect Ratio settings but nothing makes any difference.

Any ideas please how I can switch off the Default setting?

Now why isn't it set like that by default?

I was just looking for this myself, and nearly had a fit when I discovered that link is dead. >_< Fortunately, it's still Google-cached.

    For reference:
    1. Preferences - playback - screen size - set screen size as x 1.0 [100%]
    2. Preferences - playback - aspect ratio - control - keep aspect ratio [recommended]

I'm not sure I like this program, considering how hopelessly cryptic these settings are.

It can be a little tricky to set up but it has many great features I find handy not available on some others:

    1. Plays almost everything including DVDs (IFO, VOB, etc)
    2. Can be used to play in progress conversions from such as FFMpeg before waiting for a large file to convert to preview.
    3. Accepts AVISynth files
    4. Filters can be changed to use your system codecs
    5. Frame by frame advance to check audio sync, pull down (Juttter), etc.
    6. Displays complete onscreen file information such as aspect, resolution, codec information, and much more.

KMPlayer was the same (and many of the features are configured the same). But after you get it configured, it's a nice player.
