Hi all,
I have been downloading videos from You Tube, most of them are in the FLV format (container);
Please, is there a hardware media player that plays FLV files ? I mean, a hardware device that would read FLV videos from my NAS and display on TV ?
Everytime that I wanna watch the videos through my Home Theater I have to plug in the laptop, which is too troublesome, I'd like a media player with a remote control that plays the FLV videos - and of course other more common formats like MPG, MP4, etc;
Thanks a lot,
Zetti
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

Build a tiny htpc?
Or check http://www.iboum.com/net-media-players.php -
Thanks, building a "budget" HTPC would work, but I don't know where to start; it should be powerful enough to hold all video files, but no mre than that ($);
Thanks,

many youtube videos can be downloaded as MP4 files
and there are many download/conversion add-ons/plugins for browsers
so you can get the video in any common format you want
i Dl may youtube videos primarily in mp4 format -
Yes, however, in the conversion from FLV to MP4 the file sizes get BIGGER without any quality improvement, and it goes taking HDD room.....
That's what I have been doing as well (FLV -> MP4), however I have been searching for a native FLV player solution;
Maybe a laptop HTPC would work;
Thanks, -
Have you tried FLV-Extract?
Use the latest beta. It demuxes flv and muxes the stream directly to mp4 (avc/aac) And very fast.
The resulting mp4s work pretty well on my Hardware Player.
Nice Avatar, btw. Kiko -
Thanks guys for pointing out alternatives, however, I have become really lazy and would just want a $ 100 or so media player that handles FLV natively;
I have the "Pro" version of You Tube Downloader and can convert on the fly from FLV to MP4, however as I said the converted files come out bigger and if one considers "millions" of files, I end up wasting HDD room;
Therefore, a software alternative would not be the preferred choice;
Thanks a lot,
Zetti (Kiko)
P.S.: I love Chespirito and Chaves
