Here's what I have on my network. 1 ps3 wired to router. 1 ps3 for netflix wireless and 1 tv with netflix wireless.
I have Netgear N600 Dualband router WNDR3400v2
My connection plan from isp is 30mbps but my wired ps3 still lags.
I'm trying to make sure that the ps3 that is wired is getting all the connections MAXIMUM while limiting the wireless connections to just what they need to operate
Does anyone know how to do this? I can't really tell which band the ps3 is connecting to and what settings should be changed. Thanks

The dual-bands refer to the wireless settings, units on an ethernet cable are not affected.
"LAG" during gameplay is a measure of BOTH your ISP AND the internet connection of the game server.
Test using an alternate method.
Most routers use QOS for throttling wired connections, default is usually OFF. -
Sorry I've taken awhile to reply. I'm still needing help on this if possible.
I have 30 mbps. The ps3 that I have wired directly to the netgear router that isn't even a foot away from the ps3 never has a consistent speed when I test. Can anyone help me?
I've given my ps3 a static ip and still same result -
Distance from router means nothing on a wired connection. Dual-band meas nothing on a wired connection.
Internet connection speeds WILL vary. Nature of the beast. What method are you using to test? Where are the numbers coming from?
Turn the wireless off completely and test that way. Likely no difference and no real problem. -
Not sure how to turn off wireless completely. I test through the ps3 on test connections and sometimes I get 13 mbps on download and 2.9 on upload. then sometimes more or less. never consistent. I've forwarded ports and put ps3 in DMZ. If I test on my computer though I get around 33 mbps. Just need to know what settings to use with the Netgear router for best connection

The router does not know or care what device you are connecting to it. The PS3 and the PC receive the same speed.
The difference is that you are most likely testing the PS3 on a game server, where you are testing the PC on a dedicated internet speed-testing site. You are most likely NOT testing true bandwidth on the PS3, but connection speed to a gaming server. Completely different animal. It would be helpful to know EXACTLY how you are testing speed, which is why I requested that information. What you have supplied so far is nearly useless.
If you are unable to turn off the wireless setting on the router, then you most definitely SHOULD NOT be making any other setting changes. There is usually a very simple, obvious "DISABLE" menu selection for this. If you can't find a simple "OFF" switch, what settings are you proposing to change?
Turning off the wireless will most likely make no difference whatsoever. The only purpose for doing this, really, is to demonstrate to you that your first intended course of action does not even apply to this situation. -
Sorry it's taken some time to reply back.
I've told you how I test my speed. I am either not understanding your question correctly or you're not understanding my answer. If you have a ps3 - it has a option to test connection speeds. other than that it's the speedtest site. I'm not playing a game during this test so I am on no game server. -
Can you go to the speedtest website on the PS3, test, then do the same on the wired PC, then repeat at various days and times, and you are saying that USING THE SAME SPEEDTEST WEBSITE ON BOTH, the PS3 consistently shows a lower speed?
Is the amount by which the speed is lower also consistent, either in raw numbers or as a percentage of the total?
If so, change the Ethernet cable to the PS3, then the port on the router, testing at each phase against what the PC currently sees. You must test with the PC at each phase to get a baseline.
If that doesn't help, go to the router's menu and look for QoS settings. Disable.
A small but consistent difference is normal.
