I am on the hunt for a DVD Authoring Tool. I would like to be able to have text with clickable links that choose the chapter or video you want (So you can click the words and it start to play the video), then demultiplex if needed and tells you where to put muxman (or the demultiplexer) so you it can use it , able to use custom menu and animations to start the DVD. Any Ideas? You I do want it to walk on water .

Also how do you use muxman? IS there any instructions?

I have tried GUI4AUthor and it does de multiplexing but it falls short on the placement of animations and Menus! Thank you John

Must it be free? Maybe time to test something like dvd-lab pro.

I've used GfD for clickable text menu items extensively, it supports animated menus (which I haven't used yet), I've even used it for custom navigation with register-level programming. As far as I can tell it can do just about everything the DVD spec provides for, so I'm curious about what you mean by 'placement of'. Can you describe in a bit more detail what problems you experienced with it?

    Cheers,

I printed the guide, and still couldn't figure out how to place the "clickable links" to select an item that plays a vob or mpg. Could someone go thru how to do this? Also after you demux the files I get 3 files do I use them all? Which ones do I use to make the disk? All in All I like the Product, is there a way to highlight the menu item in one color when "hovered over" and another "when Selected"? John

When you drag a video item onto the menu background, a button is created for that item automatically. You can modify the placement, text and formatting as needed.

What files or types are those, something like 1 video and 2 audio files? You can use as many as you like. You can specify multiple audio and subtitle tracks.

This is also automatically configured. On Settings > Menu you can modify default Highlight/Activated properties.

Because this tool exposes so much DVD functionality, it's difficult to know what is essential to configure the first time round, and what isn't. I suggest you start with one of the very simple examples from the guide. Getting Started ("the first example will need only a few mouse clicks to create a DVD!"), Single VTS example, Multi VTS example etc. Alternatively maybe you'll be better of with something a little simpler.

All the documentation for GfD is ancient and somewhat lacking in my opinion. I can use it to create very simple text menus, but there things I've wanted to do with it that I simply had to give up on because the documentation doesn't explain how to do it and I never was able to stumble into a way to do it.

  7. Is any of those free DVD authoring programs capable to load menu as bmp or png and highlights as bmp or png also?
If yes, you just create those graphics in some graphic editor and load them into that DVD authoring.

Or to create just menu picture might be enough, highlights will be created in that DVD authoring program.

edit: jman98 perhaps means the same what I tried to describe
