  1. Hello everyone, i'm a newbie.

I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 9 to edit my videos, but i have a problem about the smooth of Transition effects !!!

My video is about drawing, so i devied it into 2 part : Intro Part and Drawing Part.

    The problem here is :

+ I want everything ( transitions, effect, text ... ) in Intro Part is smooth, that mean high frames rate.

+ But i want the drawing part have slow frames rate too, because in Drawing Part having two my hand action, so i want them to have a slow frames rate so that viewer can see clearly my drawing part !!!!!! How i can do it ?

This is my video, you can see the Transition when Black Screen to White Screen and flip side in Intro Part at Beginning of the video is not good, not smooth , thanks you very much for helping me :

What format are you starting with? You need to start with something that includes all frames and not a compressed format that only includes I, B and P frames. You could also increase the lengths of the transitions a little which will make them appear smoother.

You can't alter the frame rate, the frame rate is the frame rate. Nice vid though.

  3. Use a higher frame rate project. Time stretch the drawing section so that frames are repeated to match that frame rate. For example, use a 30 fps project to get smooth transitions, display each frame of the drawing section twice.

  4. Thanks you very much, and sorry about my bad when ask ^^! !!!

About the clip i show above, the frame rate is 15, the drawing part is nice, but the intro part is not smooth !!

And this clip, the frame rate is 30. The transitions are very smooth, but the drawing part will like this :

That's why you slow the drawing section down by duplicating each frame.

  6. OMG thank you very much, but how to duplucate each frame ?

  7. I don't really use Vegas but I know it has a way of time stretching. Ie, you slow the coip down to half speed (or whatever speed you want) and it will duplicate frames as necessary. You may need to change the "resampling" method.

    This should help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPwWyw0YrEg

  8. ok, thank you very much ^^ !!!!!!! And what is your software ?

I will find out how to duplicat frame in Vegas !!!!!!!

  9. Just drag the end of the clip out. e.g. if your clip is 1 minute and you drag it to 2 minutes, each frame will be duplicated. If you drag it to 3 minutes this means each frame will be repeated 3x

If you right click the clip , properties = > set resample to disable to duplicate frames. If you leave it on smart resample it will blend the new frames (blurry)

  10. I used AviSynth to modify your video (downloaded from youtube). Note: I added some information to my last post.

i don't understand about drad the clip out. That mean i must render 2 minutes long clip to duplicate frame right ?

  12. Yes, it means the duration is doubled if you have duplicate frames at the same FPS (frames per second)

    e.g
    300 frames, 30 FPS means 10 seconds
600 frames, 30 FPS means 20 seconds => every frame doubled
    900 frames, 30 FPS means 30 seconds => triplicates

The FPS is determined by the project properties in vegas, and the render settings (ideally they should be the same)

Left click the right end of the clip on the time line . Continue holding down the left mouse button. Drag to the right to extend the clip (stretch the clip longer)

Make sure you right click properties and disable resample to get frame repeats instead of blend

  13. i know how to do that, but i don't understand why if my clip just have 3 minutes but i must drag it to 6 minutes, what happen in 3 minutes more ?

The frames are doubled, but "effectively" plays slower because you have 2x the number of frames because the FPS is the same

This way you can have smooth intro and other sections (split the clip and place the other parts on other tracks) , but the drawing animation part is slower , easier to see

what happen when i split the clip and remove it ? It come back to normal, don't it ? You said place the other parts on other tracks but i don't know how to do that, but i know to remove it !!!!!

  17. Use 2 tracks with the same clip ;

Top track = normal speed clip
Bottom track = "slowed" clip that is stretched out with longer duration and duplicates

Sections that you want normal speed , trim the clips on the top track and position them (e.g. the intro, ending , other sections etc...) .

Sections that you want stretched out (ie. the drawing part) put on the bottom track trim & position them .

no no, i know how to do that, i mean when we finish that drag like you say, and then render, what should we do with remainder before render ? Remove it ?

I don't understand your question ? What is "remainder before render" ?

Do you mean the intro section from the "slowed" clip ? If so, just delete the intro section from the bottom track , or just reposition the lower track so the top track "covers" that intro section

I mean : assuming my clip have 2 minutes, and then i drag to 4 minutes so that x2 frame rate, and what should we do with the part from minute 2 to minute 4 to render project ? Remove it ?

  21. Ok i made it, thanks all you very much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just Remove it ^^ !!!! Thank you Poisondeathray and jagabo ^^ !!!!!
