  1. Hey guys, I have been using MKV2VOB for a while now to convert MKV files to play as AVCHD on my PS3 and most have needed transcoding (RES) as the resolution isn't compatible (ex: 1920x816)

This has been fine until today, now when I try to convert an MKV that has a resolution of 1280x692 it says Transcoding=No - Status= Muxing straight away.

Now I KNOW this file needs transcoding to 1280x720 but it wont do it, I havn't changed any settings and so don't understand what has changed,

any help would be greatly appreciated, anyone else had this problem?
    thanks.

Are you sure about that? Did you let it mux and then try to play it on your PS3? I just tested with a 1280x536 video and all it wanted to do was convert the DTS audio to AC3. The video was left untouched. I didn't burn it to disc for the PS3, but I'm not convinced what you said is true at all. Everything I've tried on the PS3 out of MKV2VOB has worked.

  3. Hi Manono, thanks for the reply, yes I burnt the BDMV folder as an AVCHD disk like usual and in the PS3 it will play the audio but with a black screen, I can get the video if I go through the disk as a folder and select the 000001 file from the "STREAM" folder but then it is missing subs, maybe it is a dodgy MKV as like I said I've had no problems before was just wondering if I had done something to MKV2VOB to disable the transcoding process.

  4. I'll try and test later on. Busy now. Now I'm curious if the resolution alone will cause that black screen. I'd almost be willing to bet not.

  5. Sorry for the delay. I took an MKV with a resolution of 1280x536, x264 video and AC3 audio, and cut a piece from it and repackaged it as an M2TS file using TSMuxer and its GUI. I burned it to disc and stuck it in the PS3. Audio and video both played as they should, so your problem isn't the resolution. Here's the full information on the original file

Compare yours with MediaInfo and see where the differences are. I might suggest you give TSMuxer a try yourself if MKV2VOB isn't working for this particular video. If it isn't already, specify 4.1 as the level and tick 'M2TS muxing'. Good luck.
