Help with this DivX problem

I am new on the forum. I have searched for this and could not find an exactly answer for solving my problem.

I use BSPlayer for my DivX playing. It has worked very well in must of the movies that I have, but from some movies downloaded from newsgroups I have quality problems. I have HUNT_FOR_RED_OCTOBER film as an AVI that fits one cd, no info file. VirtualDub says that the AVI has 24 fps rate. I can see constant slowness, like when you play in slow motion (but it is a not so exagerated efect, I really cannot explain it well, english is not my language) in all the movie. I don't know what I can do to fix this. Other movies play ok.

My other question comes from what I was looking when trying to find the solution to this poblem: How can I choose which codec is used to play determinated content? I have installed both DivX 3.11 alpha codec and DivX 5 freeware, but under BSPlayer it shows only DivX 5 settings for choosing. I have uninstalled DivX 5 and now I can see the setings of the old v.3 codec. I would like to play only DivX 5 content with the newest codec, and all my downloaded movies with the older, and I think for now better, hacked codec.

I really was thinking that I could have found some help here. But I was very wrong. Its a pity.
