this has bothered me for many years. the settings are the same for both computers.

    home and work pc
i plug in an external drive it displays by detail view. this is good.

    home pc
i plug in an usb stick and it displays by detail view. this is good.

    netbook and work pc
i plug in an usb stick and it displays by icon view, even when i set to details, remove stick and insert again, back to icon view.

so how to i set all these things to detaut in 'detail' view ?

    thank you.

  2. In Win 7 there is a folder option dialog screen where you can change some options. Have you looked for that in your OS?

  3. In the Folder and Search options dialog go to the View tab and hit the Apply to Folders option. Unfortunately, with newer versions of Windows different views apply to folders of different types of files. Ie, a folder full of DOC files counts as a different type of folder than a folder full of AVI files. So you may have to apply the settings for different folder types.

yes, i've been there done it. thats why i said 'years' because it has always bugged me that i could not get mem sticks to behave in detail view only. that is how i like *all* my folders view bc i mainly sort two ways: filename and dates. folders (icon view) mean nothing to me.
