i am having a weird time with an AVI file i am trying to convert to a VCD. when i first extract the audio in virtual dub, it gives me a warning about improper VBR audio encoding, but then lets me extract it to an uncompressed 44.1KHz WAV. i then encode in TMPGEnc using the VCD-NTSC temp, and the MPEG1 comes out very nice when i play it back in fullscreen mode in windows media player. the picutre and sound are both good. when i play it back on my regular TV-DVD player, it will often lose sync with the audio, then it will catch up again.
is the VBR audio encoding the reason why it is losing audio sync, or is it just my cheap-o DVD player? i have had this happen to me on every other movie or so, especially newer ones - but this is the first time i have gotten a VBR encoding error in VDub. the DAT file on the VCD plays back perfectly on my PC using WMP, so i can't figure it out![]()
