  1. I have a burned cd with cda files on it, both pc's can play the 1st track, thats it.
I have tried to rip the cda files with many programs to various formats and in the end it only will allows me to play
3 of the 16 tracks the other ones are silent (i use vlc) but I tried the cd in the car and it plays all 16 easy, same with a
portible dvd player i tried it on.

    what is the problem?

A CDA file is not a music file but holds data that serves as an index for the tracks that are on the CD. You need to rip the CD with a program capable of ripping the audio (16 bit wave) files from the CD.

    Nero, MediaMonkey, Foobar, Musicmatch etc...

You better use EAC if you're having playback problems on a PC but not elsewhere. This really should not be the case since you say it's a burned disc, but this sounds suspiciously to me like how some of the CD anti-copy technology has worked in the past. Interestingly this stuff was rarely used in the USA, but Europe and Asia used it quite a bit for a while. Basically it did some stuff to deliberately screw up the CD kind of like how bad sector copy protection works in DVDs. PCs had massive problems playing the discs unless a special player, usually on the CD itself, was used, but any standalone device capable of playing CD audio discs (ie. car players, CD players, DVD players) could play them without any problems. The anti-copy technology exploited a difference in the way PCs handle discs over standalone players. EAC knows how to handle this kind of thing so I strongly recommend you use it.

It is a great program and very versatile.

I am kind of surprised that it has not been updated in so long, but then maybe it does not need to be yet.

It is also amazing that it is a free program as I would gladly pay for it!!

I hope you mean bucks because the program doesn't need anymore bugs....ha ha

It's a excellent program that doesn't seem to be ever out of beta, but it works very well.
