I'd like to view two stereo tracks at once. I want them to share the same timeline, so any time I zoom into a selection, I'd see the waveform of the very same part of both tracks.

The job I'm doing is syncing one audio track to another. So I need to see both waveforms simultaneously to find out at what points should I insert some silence or delete parts on one track to sync it up with the other. View and zoom separately would be extremely tiresome and slow.

If it would be two mono signals, it'd be fine: I could handle them as a stereo track, and edit only the right (or left) channel.

Note that I don't want to edit the two tracks at the same time. I want to edit only one of them.

Is this possible to do in GoldWave? Or perhaps in another audio editor which has programmable hotkeys? The problem is that I'm really used to GoldWave and its hotkeys and it would be very painful to do such a job with different key combinations.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I don't think so. I like Goldwave for the equalizers and such, but for layering tracks I generally use Audacity.

In goldwave create a new stereo track and open each track and select copy and then paste each track into the new stereo track, one into left and the other into right.

If I load two (or more) different stereo tracks at once into Goldwave, can they be played at the same time?
So, one track in one window, one in another... and play both?

Nope, you can play only one track at a time, that's why you need to paste each channel into a new stereo track, try opening another instance of goldwave and see it both will play,i haven't used goldwave in awhile so i can't test it out.

  6. Thought so. I tried every combination and key press combination I could think of and the copy paste method drove me nuts. Which is why I opted for editing individual tracks and combining/finishing in Audacity. Thanks for the reply.

I've said this is about two STEREO tracks. So I can't copy one to the left, and one to the right. That would take 4 channels.
